Here are the meshes I'm using here. I made them in the same file to have them fit. These are just paths curves in Blender, with another curve for profile, and another for size over length.

The sun reflection here is calculated with the difference between the distance to the center and the distance to the center passing through the vertex position.

This is calculated horizontally to create this vertical beam instead of a dot.
