the conclusion is that Namora saves the "benevolent explorers" who were part of the expedition while inspiring the indigenous people of Apaco to reclaim their heritage and force the malevolent members to the expedition to work for them.
Namora gets mixed up with an expedition to a lost Mayan city called Apaco. her connection to the locale is coincidental, as opposed to (seemingly) being from Talocan in Wakanda Forever.
