I think a part of the reason why I'm liking PGR so much is the characters. Moreso their groundedness. While they do have distinct personalities, none of them are ever are over-exaggerated (mostly seen in anime and jrpgs). They all act mature and sensible most of the time and -

its incredibly annoying when a character is reduced to doing unimaginably dumb things to make the MC progress the plot. Or making comic relief characters just the butt of the joke. It feels borderline bullying
