For speedpaints like this, I go straight to painting under & over the rough sketch.
For more detailed illustrations, I spend a longer amount of time refining the sketch, linework, flatting, and going through several stages of values.

For a lot of pieces, I tend to work very zoomed out and try to use as few brushstrokes as possible. The more "expensive" an illustration is, the more time I spend detailing and cleaning up.
