I like this, it gives me the feeling of a bustling city on the run up to Christmas. Everyone's well wrapped up, street vendors and musicians ply their trade, and yonder shop displays a winter wonderland banner!

I've seen video clips of Howson painting.
He stands back to weigh up his next brushstroke, then goes in and strikes in a single movement. Each brushstroke is highly considered and accurately executed. It is at once placing the right colour, form and tone, nothing is extraneous🧐

"People ask why he is not as well known as Lowry. Lowry’s work in the northwest was very typical of Manchester, the cotton mills etc. My father’s work is every bit as synonymous with our region as Lowry’s was with his."
