In celebration of Evangelion 3.0+1.0's release, I want to take some time to appreciate the aesthetics of the Evangelion.

an appropriately somber visual style -- often illustrating destruction or extreme violence -- that appropriately compliments the theme of the series

Here are my 3 big picks.

1) Berserk -- Heavy anti-nihilist/existentialist themes, the nature of choosing to survive and creating purpose

2) Neon Genesis Evangelion -- Heavy anti-escapism themes

3) the Foundation trilogy -- Extremely humanist, focus on sociology & technocracy

it's difficult to sufficiently appreciate the unfathomable level of detail Miura put into the art of Berserk

what's even more impressive is that his storytelling ability matched his illustration ability

there's no need to worry. right??
