the lunchroom scene delivers a lot more establishing information as well as foreshadowing. 🧵

a couple of images from 2018 as i sort through my art folders. such a strange, unpleasant part of my life.

the scene introduces, and really focuses on, the two intertwined themes of losing autonomy and manufacturing consent.
it was really important for me to not give the reader any sense of closure about whether kim decided to sign a release of consent form or not.

scene 3.
this one is much longer than the prior 2. it seems like there is a requirement for intake to take 5 million years.

i don't want to plaster every one of these with images of the material i'm talking about, but i had forgotten how much i built up kim's reaction to being touched. her first instance of saying "don't touch me" is so soft and confused.

scene 2.
it actually only lasts 'til page 4. i always try to introduce the main premise of a story within the first 5 pages of a large comic. 🧵

this is the last teeth icon from my last commission batch. it has no friends to keep it company, but i still like it a lot and want to post it!
