Getting the watercolours out just feels like coming home 🍂

It has been a while and I had almost forgotten how wonderful it is to work with fluid pigment and lots of water.

I have been making a variety of studies here on Iona, from simple line drawings to capture shapes, to colour studies using my faithful portable watercolour palette.

I felt the urge to mix up turquoise greens and greyed off purples today. Maybe it’s the excitement of my upcoming week on Iona with @deewalkerartist that’s brought on this colour palette 😃

Sometimes picking up the wrong paper is a gift 🙏
I am quite taken by the way the watercolour has settled into the woven paper texture amplified by my ‘interfering’ broad brush strokes dragged over semi dry paint.
