Sam Raimi's gonzo horror/superhero caper DARKMAN (1990) feels torn directly from the pages of a comic book. Moving at a manic pace, and aided by one of Danny Elfman's most underrated scores, it's a film that deserves to be more widely appreciated.
Grisly proto-slasher TORSO (1973) is the last of Sergio Martino's five early 70s gialli, and it's another stunner. The well-chosen locations add to the macabre atmosphere, and the incredible last half hour is one of the greatest, most suspenseful sequences in the genre.
