The most well-known appearance of Tiobraid ‘a fountain, well or spring’ is in Tipperary (Tiobraid Árann ‘the well of Ara’), but it is also seen in Tubbrid (Tiobraid 'well') in Co. Fermanagh, and in Kiltubbrid (Cill Tiobraide ‘church of the well’) in Co. Armagh.

Most widely recognised as the name of the mountain road between Belfast and Derry, Glenshane is also the name given to the mountain, forest and townland, from Gleann Sheáin ‘John’s glen’, the valley of the head waters of the river Roe (An Ró perhaps ‘the roaring one’)
