i'm working right now on fixing up j-fashion claudette to include a back view and also note that she's wearing bloomers underneath
Bonus: I made this snazzy version of the text that's meant to evoke the covers for a few Monkey Island games (the later ones use gradient text). I didn't include it in the pic because it's way too fancy compared to the flats, but it's a stream asset for auth to use as he pleases.
And that's about it! That's how the sausage is made. Happy Monkey Island May.
Speaking of shadows, there's no background. I definitely don't have the energy to add one. But auth and Bubsette feel a bit "floating in a void"...
...So, a quick stylized shadow underneath their bodies. A quick and dirty trick to make them feel more "present", physically.
With all of the coloring done, that just leaves the Monkey Island May logo.
Coloring time. I chose flats with no shading partly because this project had been fairly intensive already, partly because it matches the visual style of Monkey Island 3.
auth approved, so I got to work! Here's the polished sketch. I asked which Guybrush he wanted and, since Curse of Monkey Island is his favorite, that seemed the natural choice. Guybrush for comparison.
Had the pleasure of being commissioned by my dear friend @authorblues for some Monkey Island May promo art. Make sure to watch his channel for that! It's Monkey Island, all May long!!
But also, here's my usual thread on how the art sausage is made. 🧵
This is the worst garfield strip I've ever seen. Jesus Christ
A belated kofi for @m_d_c_t, who asked for three separate sketches of Touhou characters of my choice! I chose Wriggle Nightbug (of course), Hecatia, and Tenshi!
I also threw in a free sketch of Koakuma because I love her lots but I know Doc doesn't think she's a real character
