A group of trees on a hill is a common sight in #Northumberland. Many people have contacted me with their photos of hill top trees which is really touching. Such a simple subject but one that resonates with us. Why is that? Original now in Australia! https://t.co/SvIyHQkyQ2
With this landscape, I returned to my earlier theme of seeing the landscape as a patchwork of fields. The strongly coloured foreground has a sense of the recession of plough lines but is really a great excuse for having fun with colour and pattern! https://t.co/hpZwoJop5b
Designed to be crisp and dramatic, The Heart of the Earth has powerful undulating patterns that suggest #Geology heat and hidden depths. The windswept trees stand out against the pure white sky. https://t.co/iltmg3PgN3
Drawing on inspiration from Scottish islands, Sunset beyond the Headlands is an imagined view. The colours in the sea mirror those in the sky to give a sense of reflected light. The headlands were printed using paper stencils and shades of indigo ink. https://t.co/USKLJzdWDl

"People often ask me what the patterns signify in my work - is it roots or geology below the ground or agricultural land marks? All on these and none! When I'm working, my focus is just on colour and pattern and creating beautiful patterns in nature.

I really felt I was getting somewhere with the gold/pink/grey combination of colours in the sunset sky for this one. There's a palpable sense of warm light which was what I was striving for. What do you think of 'bathed in light'? https://t.co/2ACK3a0DOP #printmaker #onlineart
"A glorious meadow with poppies in full bloom. I do these more summery pictures from time to time as a seasonal change from my more wintery work. I wanted to incorporate more varied shades of red and orange to give light and variety.

"Do you enjoy watching the quiet patience of a heron fishing in a pond or lake? There's something about the dusky grey feathers and the bend in their necks which is mesmerizing. This image is available as a greetings card. Part of my #BritishBirds series.
