This moody seascape is reminiscent of the Scottish coastline - not a particular place but rather the idea of a jutting headland with the swirling sky and glowering sea. Northern lights giclee print - available here: https://t.co/N83RGMlxFA #artstudio #gicleeprint #scottishart
I learnt a thing from one of my followers: a clump of trees on a hill like this can be called a tump! Paul Nash made many studies of #wittenhamclumps which is a similar landform. There's also the #cominghometrees in #Cornwall. Are there any near you?

How would you describe this landform? Tump, clump, copse? Any more? I called this one "Hill Top Stand". Can anyone remember the myth of a circle of trees that were cut down and brought bad luck? I've made many imaginative images like this. Greetings cards:

This fiery sky began as an exploration in colour. I wanted to achieve a #sunset sky that wasn't delicate pinks but brooding, powerful reds. People often ask me how I get the colours to glow - the blues and greys activate the reds and oranges. Original sold https://t.co/6g2BW08JMc
Windswept Trees etching. Are the patterns meant to represent something ? The idea began as a limestone pavement with cracks and grooves but as it developed I added more patterns and it became more abstract in nature like a patchwork quilt. #windy https://t.co/6Jmb29deIP
A group of trees on a hill is a common sight in #Northumberland. Many people have contacted me with their photos of hill top trees which is really touching. Such a simple subject but one that resonates with us. Why is that? Original now in Australia! https://t.co/SvIyHQkyQ2
Designed to be crisp and dramatic, The Heart of the Earth has powerful undulating patterns that suggest #Geology heat and hidden depths. The windswept trees stand out against the pure white sky. https://t.co/iltmg3xFVv
Final Colours: I've created many sunset skies using monotype printing but this one really seems to have the glow and intensity of a real sunset. The small trees give a hint of long summer days. You can watch a making-of video over on my blog: #sunset https://t.co/C28MdlWnSa
New! Moonlight, #DunstanburghCastle Original still available! Have you visited this famous landmark on the #Northumberland coast? A crescent moon hangs over the ruins of the castle and moonlight dances on the water as the final colours of sunset slip away

Touch a Chord: one of a series of fiery skies I made recently. As in music where a chord gives a richer sound than a single note, so it is with colours where a range of reds and oranges are more powerful than a single colour. Original sold, card available
