Another v important thing to me was for it to be clear Tashim never expects Saiya's affection as gratitude. Saiya's affection for her isn't gratitude at all, it's pure emotion and connection, and vice versa.

It was important to me that Saiya is never helpless, even when captured and in danger. She still needs Tashim's help to fully escape the situation, but Tashim needs her just as much.

I wanted the princess to be seen having actual responsibilities and fulfilling them, unlike what we normally see in fairytales. Saiya works v hard and is v dedicated to her people!
