Mara Jade, a victim, a tool & Palpatine"s revenge on Vader when he died. Like order 66 he used the force to mentally chip her, but she fought it & with Luke's help she was free. She was strong, so he kept her grey & loyal so she couldn't defeat him.

Because their character arcs are so intertwined & their mistakes & growth affect the other. Their story should be faithful to the Zahn books no matter what, if by some miracle, she becomes live action.
