I may not appear to have any influences from our pinoy mythology or culture, but it is there

The stories I have been told, the places I've been to, & the culture I live in inform a lot of why Light and Lost look how they look, a product of our culture

@mervinmalonzo @ecsamar @zekemachine @manix_abrera Crime Fighting Call Center Agents from @noelvpascual and @kowtowkomiks laughs at the absurdity of the genee and is also one of my favorites poking fun at the mythological creature tropes and culture around it

@mervinmalonzo @ecsamar Ella Arcangel by @zekemachine is up there for me as well as a property that uses mythology to build a fascinating amalgam. It's visceral komiks uses creatures, new and old, inspired by our culture to revitalize the genre and give commentary to our current climate

@mervinmalonzo @ecsamar So that showed me that these old stories are how we cope, and these new stories share that same need. The komiks adaptation of Janus Silang and the novels themselves also offer up a fascinating new take on Pinoy mythology

Tabi Po by @mervinmalonzo sought to deconstruct the genre by making mythological creatures... human in a way, still monstrous beings that have their own cravings but Mervin built a fascinating character study and in my opinion is the best made ongoing komiks series

Pinoy mythology: is there an oversaturation? Not really. It can come off that way with what the popular series are, but there are gems that deconstruct, build up, and create new story possibilities for our mythos. Examples would be Ella Arcangel, Tabi Po, Trese, Mythology Class

This show is a special show because we been at it for 5 years so people will fall in love
