The version of "Journey to the West" painted by Dai Dunbang (1938-), a master of contemporary Chinese traditional art, also famous for his illustrations of Chinese classics . Many young artists nowadays have been influenced by him.

Master Liu Jiyou reduced his social interactions and spent a year completing these eight group paintings. and was informed that 2 of them were accidentally lost after an exhibition(be retrieved decades later). It is said this series is now prohibited from being exhibited abroad.
