Master Liu Jiyou reduced his social interactions and spent a year completing these eight group paintings. and was informed that 2 of them were accidentally lost after an exhibition(be retrieved decades later). It is said this series is now prohibited from being exhibited abroad.
Follow up. Liu Jiyou (1918-1983) was the founder of Chinese comic books. In 1956,he completed a series of 8 paintings titled "The Monkey King Smashes the Heavenly Palace". but 2 of them were damaged in international exhibitions.
