I've been examining the play of warm and cool colors in winter. Love how they interact, not as adversaries but as supporters. Check video on Instagram.

Hi and thanks for doing ! I'm Manuel. I mostly do art to maintain my mental balance. It really helps me to calm down my hyperactive brain. I usually do traditional art: Still lifes, portraits and landscapes. I love to work directly from life.

It's been a while... Finally, I have a new still life to show. Used charcoal on A3 paper (42x30cm/16"x12"). I took extra care about modelling the cloth.

There is more in the making but not for show, yet.

"Still-life with Monkey Skull", 40x32cm, on paper

While I had been going on about what a cool this is, when it suddenly cried "I'M AN EFFING AND IF YA DON'T SHUT UP I'M GONNA HIT YOU... as soon as I find the rest of me".

Silly monkey!

I applied the first layer of color to my on piece. I had to use 6 layers of fixative to make the charcoal somewhat stay in place. Right now it looks a bit like an old faded photograph. When it's completely dry, I'll apply the next layer. 🎨🖌️

Today, I have a little bonsai study to share. I got this cute bonsai tree a couple of years back as a present and it's been sitting in my studio for a long time. Despite my neglect it still thrives. Strong little thing! 🌳
