One thing that I find curious is Otoya's little shovel he carries around. He rarely uses it but has it beginning in chapter 1. I believed he used it to dig up bugs for the poison jar, but he often carries it even when he does not have the jar with him.

The Inuyasha films are the highest profile work of Toshiya Shinohara, who directed each of them. His other work includes co-directing some recent Lupin III films as well as co-directing The Diary of Anne Frank anime adaptation.

Prior to his work with Inuyasha he worked on a number of Gundam properties for Sunrise including serving as animation director for Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, Turn A Gundam and serving as the key animator for the Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway film.

Fans were excited about the 3rd film focusing on the core cast and exploring Inuyasha's father. It is rare for Takahashi films not to introduce a new villain and focus on the core cast. When it happens (UY 2, Ranma movie 3, the MI film) the film feels more introspective.

Through Kitty Animation, most of Takahashi's previous anime featured artists that were connected to Kitty Records, however Inuyasha would use pop musicians from the white hot Avex Trax label.
