"Casablanca Memories" gives us Rei's backstory, the origin of her negative feelings towards men and relationships.

#SailorMoonCrystal and some of the more recent stage musicals have made famous (or, perhaps, infamous) Naoko's early idea of pairing the Four Inner Guardians with the Four Generals (Jadeite, Nephrite, Zoisite, and Kunzite).

One minor detail that ended up being repurposed pertained to gloves. Sailor Mars's concept sheet mentions that she sometimes wears gloves, sometimes doesn't. This little character quirk actually wound up going to Venus! (Just a cute bit of trivia I thought I'd point out.)

Consider, for example, how Sailor Moon's actual character design in the manga looks wildly different from her design in the title page for Act 1:

...to say nothing of how little substance there is to every other interpersonal connection among the characters. (Okay, Ami and Mako both have a crush on Motoki early on, but is that really a basis for them to have any kind of real, personal connection? I thinketh not.)

More seriously, both are noted for their beauty and their intuition, with Michiru using her mirror for readings and Rei the sacred fire.

Minako may attend public school and only aspire to one day become an idol, but as her alter ego, Sailor V, she is arguably the most famous and popular character in the series.
