@sebubibinman So, I don’t know exactly when it happened, but sometime after the middle of February 1985, Turbo-maru II ran away. (It says so in the illustration you posted, where Toriyama talks about getting Mato). Mato was born in June of that year, and later died of illness in February 1995.

Christmas Toriyama work (none for Monday as the emperor’s birthday was observed): a Christmas/New Year postcard sent to members of his official fan club, the Akira Toriyama Preservation Society, in December 1986. The Turtle Sage is delivering presents in a car.
