The Wildlife Service Award goes to Abhijit Rabha, whose valour & integrity have changed the #poaching stats in Assam. He has clamped down on illegal trade of a range of species. He changed the lives of 75 poachers, training them as foot soldiers for the Forest Department instead.
The Wildlife Service Award goes to Kheer Babu & Mahila Bai, of Pardhi tribe, a #hunting #community. The Pardhis have now begun taking up other sources of livelihood, in part due to Kheer and Mahila’s advocacy. Their work has resulted in a decline in hunting of #wildlife in Panna.
The Wildlife Service Award goes to Debadityo Sinha, who set up @vindhyabachao in 2012, currently seeking protection of Mirzapur’s forests & declaration of a sloth bear reserve. Sinha litigates at the National Green Tribunal, and has secured justice for various ecological #crises.
The Green Teacher Award goes to Laxmi Maravi, 1st woman from Ajhwaar, MP to join the Forest Department. She conducts Kanha’s Nature Education Program by @LastWilderness works to enable Baiga women to produce Baiga Jewellery & coordinates with organisations like @WWFINDIA.
