This morning feels right for Gwen Raverat trees (The Fen, 1935, wood-engraving)
@museumhour As a 19yo in the Louvre for the first time, alone in a room with this painting. So fascinated by the tiny details I got so close I set off the alarm & then ran scared out of the building. Made me want to be an art historian - I wanted to belong. #MuseumHour #CelebrateMuseums
James McNeill Whistler, Connie Gilchrist skipping rope, c. 1879 (pen & ink with brown wash) @britishmuseum
For the 190th birthday of Édouard Manet (#botd) my most favourite pastel:
Portrait of Irma Brunner, 1880 @MuseeOrsay

Incredible Laurencin painting @Tate 'In the Studio' gallery rn: Portraits, 1915 (Laurencin w/ Cecilia de Madrazo & Coco the dog). Painted while she was in exile in Spain during WWI (because she married a German). So much is done with just tones pink & grey. https://t.co/EpXUtkTVzL
Exciting Hepworth show alert! Here is my favourite #drawing of hers from @britishmuseum. Nude on yellow background (1949), graphite and oil on gesso-prepared board. Details show the variety of line from soft & surface graphite to deeply scored hatching in the gesso & board. https://t.co/I61xZyULBO
Good morning to Goya's ecstatically evil owl.
Plate 75 of Los Caprichos: No hay quien nos desate? (Can't anyone untie us?) etching and burnished aquatint, 1799.
