Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. – Psalm 127:3
I'd bet a lot of our anxiety and depression arises from overthinking. This is why 'simple' people like Sam Gamgee just keep calm and carry on. It's not that they're stupid, it's that they're blessedly uncomplicated, and can easily receive wisdom. See: Mark 10:15.
"Without proper experiments I conclude nothing." – Johannes Kepler
"Test all things; hold fast what is good." – Paul the Apostle
He says, "Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth."
– Psalm 46:10
Here's Jupiter, because why not. It's good for the soul to contemplate beautiful things. These were all taken this year by NASA's Juno spacecraft.
A patriotically-hued Eagle Nebula for America's Independence Day, complete with the Pillars of Creation in its magnificent heart. Have a happy one, y'all. 🎆🇺🇸
The beautiful Lagoon Nebula, located about 4,100 ly from Earth in the constellation Sagittarius. The Lagoon is one of the two active star-forming regions visible to the eye in the northern hemisphere (anyone wanna guess the other one?). It's especially visible with binoculars.
Just in case you can't get enough of this stuff. I know I can't.
It's amazing to think that even though galaxies crash into each other all the time, their stars rarely collide. There's so much space between the stars relative to their size, that the vast majority of stars and any planets around them can survive these violent mergers just fine.
Always remember that the God who created this spectacular universe also created you. Deliberately. You're not an accident, you're not a byproduct of natural processes in an indifferent universe, you were created in love and wisdom. Revel in it.
