Fun fact: nearly all commercially grown artichokes consumed in the U.S. are grown in California. Alice Ellen Klauber ties her identity as an artist to her home state by painting these artichoke blossoms, subverting the tradition of still life with her painting subjects.

Today is #ResidentFreeTuesday at SDMA. See "Art of Devotion" and listen to an #ArtStop by Dr. Michael Brown, Curator of European Art @SDMA, as he presents on #PeterPaulRubens' oil sketch "Allegory of Eternity" (1622-1625). The ArtStop tour will meet at noon in the Rotunda.
