I’m listening to soundtracks while doing chores. With Legrand, folding towels is bittersweet melancholy. Korngold turns washing the dishes into a heroic romp. Morricone affirms that cleaning the toilet is an epic struggle. And Mancini underlines the humor of sweeping the floor.
Addendum: It’s true Billie Ritchie was attacked by ostriches on the set of his last film in 1919, but it’s unlikely he died from those injuries. He was in generally poor health before the attack, probably from the stomach cance that eventually killed him in 1921 at the age of 42.
