A thought ocurred, what if Roy's reunion with Lian mimics the first time he met her... When he arrives at the place Lian and Jade are he and Jade reminisce about their past and Jade takes Roy to see Lian in her bedroom, and they hug with Jade looking at them in the back
It's worth adding that Jade has said that she doesn't necessarily likes being Cheshire, but that, considering she was sold to slavery as a child and then manipulated by Wen Cheng into becoming a cold mercenary, the only thing she knew was being an asssassin.
This scene always gets me
"Do you think I like being like this... doing the things I do?
I never asked to learn how to kill, but as a child, that is what i was taught."
😩 Jade has so much unttaped potential, it's a shame she is so overlooked by DC Comics's writers and editors
In YJ she was given a rich backstory, drive, a complex personality and a deep character arc that spanned through four seasons, and in the comics she was shown seeking her daughter and redemption, both whice she attained after protecting Gotham from dictators.
Recently, and thankfully, the character has slowly been restored to who she previously were, and my I say, perfected, as animations like Young Justice and Soul of the dragon and comics like Catwoman have given her more dimension, backstories, direction.
In spite of this some writers managed to restore some of Jade’s personality throughout the years, her love for her daughter; her morals and her dimension, writing her as a tridimensional person instead of a trope (dragon lady). This happened in The Titans and Titans.
When first introduced, Jade was quite layered and the key aspect of the character was the duality between Jade, loving and pensive, and Cheshire, a blunt mercenary, but who wasn’t completely amoral. Cheshire was shown to took revenge on contractors who hired her for vile jobs.
@TalkinLadyShiva @henry_belman In spite of those writings, often writers have maanged to give jade the nuance she initially had and this comes across especially in titans comics (the titans and titans)
@TalkinLadyShiva @henry_belman So its quite clear that Jade was not fully evil, she was quite moral, affectionate and calm. As for Cheshire, she was a mercenary, but even at that we were shown that she wasnt amoral, as she often took revenge on vile people who hired her.
