as far as the race i play as ... with my character being a miqo'ra, aslan's in-game appearance was never like how i drew them. too short, facial features weren't "right", body type wasn't right... male viera were taller, had the right facial features, and the body type was closer
eventually i transplanted them into a universe where they're an alien race that's inspired by dinosaurs. so feathers and scales, and i always liked grey, so i gave the alien version of them grey skin; this lead to a name change too. some aspects translated into their xiv design.

reaux is another case. fun fact about him is he was originally supposed to be a human drawing of chief (animal crossing) and then mid-drawing i started liking the design a lot, so i was like screw that he's mine.
