Akira Toriyama (Dr. Slump - Early Dragon Ball, peak Toriyama).
And Yoshihiro Togashi (Yuyu Hakusho - Early HxH).
They are two of the most influential mangakas from a previous generation. Their books are still being reprinted and sold.
@laluu_art Which in their defense was sort of true. You had to take their advice with a grain of salt. We were then sort of left on our own to discover/find our own style. It was a little easier for me since I do have a cartooning background. I mixed the 2 styles together and that was it!
@laluu_art When I was starting out, I drew in a very anime-inspired style. We were then discouraged/ridiculed by the industry's veterans not to draw in that style since to them "it promotes other people's culture/style-animexJapan". That sort of old-school mentality!
