My second and third novels didn't earn out. Although, to be fair, the publisher folded shortly after they came out so it's not like they had a chance. They were also been re-released with a new imprint (see below).
If you're looking for drama, intrigue, heartache, great dresses and a dash of the fantastic, THE BEAUTIFUL ONES is out now. https://t.co/mTJAFl3Kao
My go to example are these two books which came out from large publishers last year and both mine the idea of Star Wars characters (Poe/Finn) to the point the characters look like them. https://t.co/2Rkq3hk3wA
Flowers in the Attic used stepbacks with keyholes (cutouts) for their iconic covers created by Lisa Falkenstern. When the book was closed it showed a girl peeking through a window. When opened, you saw the whole family. It became a distinctive style for the author.
I recommended a new paperback edition of The Cipher by Koja (2020 edition) for the Summer Scares Library program, meaning it will be promoted across library systems this summer. Originally published in 1991.
@NMamatas @SproBeforeBros @TheLincoln @schanoes There were not one but two books by major publishers last year that were basically Poe/Finn Star Wars fanfic and advertised as such. Even the characters on the cover look like Poe/Finn. A take on Rebecca with the names slightly changed, like The Winters. Etc.
People imagine 'inspired' or 'similar' is the same as direct sequel, using the characters, etc, which is not the case. That is why we have not one but *2* traditionally published sci Fi novels last year that are basically Poe/Finn fanfic. Even the cover artwork is like that.
I have a limited number of Halloween postcards with artwork by Ana Hinojosa. Sign up for one here: https://t.co/4Tgx7hPEQz
Visual fest o'clock: George Ziel illustrated a number of pulp fiction books, including Gothic novel covers.
Sometimes I see reviews of books that say ugh, X book is *just* Romeo & Juliet with black people. If you don't like something I think you have to express it better than saying common trope is suddenly not good enough yet you read 20 things like that and were ok with it until now.
