On this day, 23rd June 1991, Sega unleashes Sonic the Hedgehog onto an unprepared world.

Little fact. 17yo Spacies was invited into the Sydney Sega office to play an early build of Sonic the Hedgehog. The moment I saw the title screen I just knew I was seeing something special.

On this day, 15th June 1986, Sega releases Fantasy Zone in an effort to create their own unique competitor to Gradius.

Quite a stunning looking game for the time. The first Mark III game that had to be released on cartridge given the limitations of the "My Card" format.
