isn't to say black/gray/white aren't helpful with art; that helps wonderfully with learning contrast and how a picture looks.

this is a study (2021) I did where I only painted in grayscale & then added a gradient map which lays over it like a nice colorful blankie

One thing I've gotten used to doing with character design is to not use as much much black since it would tend to dull out other colors & rather use a very dark but saturated color that compliments or contrasts w/ the character's design. She’s a messenger to the Fayes while indulging in her favorite…activities. In order to blend in & not stand out as a demon, she takes the form from a uninhabited body named Cindy
