@actionhankbeard Seems Konami has embraced the old look for the guy, so it's not entirely unlikely.
While I don't really play them much, the Splatoon series has such a perfect mix of picking a theme that encapsulates the way you play and utterly embeds that into its character designs. Design that reflect themselves and the world. Detailed but readable.

An old Megaman DOS style test I did for Blade/Knife Man, matching the illustrations from Hideki Ishikawa. Always had good color and volume.
Kind of liked the street-punk theme I came up with. Weapon weakness would make him drop the knife cloak.
@ RT: The old mockups redoes the two MM games for DOS into one game. So I've redesigned the old bosses to be one cast: Sonic, Dyna, Bit, Volt, Shark and Torch man, with Blade, Wave and Oil changed to Knife, Buoy and Fuel man as those names got taken by Capcom bosses later.
