Actually though, he needs everyone to like him So Much, but he knows that won't happen, so he preemptively is rude to people so they're rude back and he has a reason to dislike them so it won't hurt as bad when they don't like him. Yes this is stupid. But hey, it works...?
Flavio was brought up in a very meritocratic, misogynistic and homophobic environment, internalising a lot of these values. This combines wonderfully with his low self esteem, overall anxieties and anger management problems, and makes for an explosive cocktail! We love to see it!
