1999 gave us a new design for a "Shin Getter Dragon" as well, one which was partially used in Armageddon, but has seen a recent resurgence into the limelight as of its surprise use in SUper RObot Wars T (and soon to return in Super Robot Wars 30). Almost thought Arc would use it!

The setup to BUG in Arc is identical to that of the Seikun units which the source material is based on. Whereas the Seikuns in Flieder Bug kept their helmet visible at all times (and drained blood/checked DNA from their pilots to control their machines), BUG in Arc has some camo.

I try to forget about Gore post-threeway but here we are.

Right off the bat, episode 12, Overlapping Time, really shakes things up.

Rather than start back up where the manga does, instead we jump to the final few pages. To the infamous unfinished battle between Takuma and Kamui. Shot for shot. And I yelled.

The manga's cut back to Hayato and the Saotome Labs is the huge departure at the end of this episode.
In the manga, Hayato merely vows to save the team (in what is, sadly, his last-ever appearance in the manga).

In the anime, we have him...announcing the lab's shutdown?!

If Uzala looks familiar to you other than the manga, that's because it was also repurposed in Getter Robo Armageddon as the OVA's basis for the "completed" Shin Dragon! Actually was how I first saw the design myself.
