Ryu has to be one of my favorite examples of fighting your inner demon. The man's been struggling for years to rid himself of the dark hado, finally manages to do it and then that evil just manifested itself into another being.

Where there is light, there is also shadow. Do any of your OCs have a dark/evil/anti/nega version of themselves?
