@spiiiciest they didn't include him cuz they knew he would sweep
again kishi shows us that kks and gai are so incredibly alike. they both have an extremely self destructive move that the other hates.
we didn't get a reason as to why gai hates chidori/raikiri in part one but it could be easily inferred without the context we get later.
kks (a hypocrite) smiling after gai (also a hypocrite) gets mad at him for passing on the chidori.
when he said "don't worry gai, i'd do it too" he was not kidding!
during the first half of this fight it is revealed that kks had sasuke learn some of the basics of gai's techniques. he has sasuke use his sharingan to recall the moves but he would also have to know enough about gai's techniques to properly coach sasuke.
now that we are through with the lee vs garaa fight let's move to the 3rd round of the exams! sasuke vs garaa
kks and sasuke show up late and kks immediately makes a beeline to gai. sakura is there too but she has to say something to him for him to acknowledge her.
kks then finally addresses gai directly. back tracking on what he said earlier.
kks is not the type to say things he does mean and he is not the type to change his mind in a second. he still hates the gates and hates that gai passed them down but that doesn't matter right now.
in an instant kks is there, physically shutting naruto up. immediately recontextualizing the situation to acknowledge the choices lee made on his own without gai's influence.
as the medic nin inform gai about the severity of lee's injuries naruto immediately starts yelling about how unfair it is. though it is not his intention, naruto's words are undoubtedly causing more pain to gai.
immediately before the last scene, gai begins to cry.
kks, who was watching the fight with his sharingan, closes his eyes.
they go on to explain the gates to sakura, again on the same wavelength and finishing each other's thoughts.
