@Hellboy_eBooks Kinda but not really. Shado always loved and cared for Emiko deeply, and wanting to kill her was something that came outta left field. Meanwhile, Shiva was beating the crap out of her daughter before we even knew she was her daughter, but she also believes in her potential.
Happy #NationalDaughtersDay! Celebrate it by not trying to kill your daughter for once.

And likewise, Gabrych tried to write Shiva as someone with a measure of depth. Even if it veered into melodrama and burdened her with a lot of unnecessary tragedy, there's still a degree of care and thought put into it that few other writers have demonstrated.
... reach her, not in attempt to stop her or appeal to her but just to understand her a bit more.
And as before, reservations aside I think everyone who writes them as having that kind of relationship instead of just your run of the mill hero/villain antagonism deserves credit.
... the little details, like having Shiva and Onyx wearing some of their old costumes in flashbacks. There was at least some research done there. But the more I thought about it, the more it felt disingenuous because the end product is just so, so ugly.
I mean, if you're gonna crib someone's style it might you might as well crib from the best.
@RedFreakinArrow I'd rather not make anything that makes this panel canon, but if you put a gun to my head and told me to make it work, I'd probably be like "She's the kid Shiva had with Dragon back when she was still trying to find something to fill her life with, and even that didn't work out."
Checked DC Connect and yep, still there!
Please don't cancel it, DC. Work with me here, man.
@GothamKnight37 The most BS thing about it for me is that in the end they beat him by having Huntress clear her mind and I'm like... do you really think Lady Shiva can't do that? The mistress of the martial arts, the embodiment of Zen itself can't clear her mind?
Right.
