(Also, this is a small thing but I do enjoy the return of the idea that Shiva has no fixed home and just sorta crashes on people's places wherever she goes. And the ultra-gothic tower of buildings in the background was cool as fug too)

That said, Shiva does end the scene with quite a foreboding bit of dialogue with equally creepy intense stare, and I'm starting to wonder what her idea of "saving" anything is, so the hooks are still there. And furthermore, it's interesting that while Shiva is here...

Also, Shiva mentions that the Outsiders are over, and... is it just me or is this like the second or third time someone's said this already?

Admittedly, the strained and not-quite-solid nature of this team is quite a bit of a plot point, but it feels like deja vu.

Look, this single issue alone has Cass asking her mother what she wants twice. And it's something that she's already asked her and that Shiva already answered.

Sure, every time she adds a new bit of information, but the bush is kinda taking a beating right now.

Anyway, fashion talk aside, Shiva plants some seeds of doubt in Cass and Duke before revealing that she wants them to come with her to hunt down Ra's, and this is where the only real non-nitpicky problem I have with this issue came to light. It's a matter of redundancy.

Seriously, this look is CLEAN, it's FRESH, it's TIGHT, it even comes with its own red trenchcoat (that I wish we'd gotten at least one panel of Shiva actually wearing), and like Melnikov's style, it's a welcome shift from the fairly standard looks she's worn so far in this book.

What's surprising about this bit is that Shiva seems to have expanded her goals somewhat, and while before she'd expressed interest only in Cassandra, now she's also looking to bring Duke into her impromptu fold.

I suppose flattery WILL get you somewhere.

Seriously, this panel in particular had me chuckling like an asshole.

In fact, there's a fair bit of sly comedy to this scene, with Cass smiling and Tatsu and Shiva barely trying to hide their intentions, that's delivered expertly by Melnikov. It's a refreshing change of pace from the usual gloom of the series.
