Teacher: What do you hear when you eat celery?
Pupil: "thunder and lightning".
Teacher: What does it sound like when you bite an apple?
Pupil: "like grass with frost on it"
What amazing descriptions from Yr 4 pupils @DunbarPrimary during their @tastedfeed lesson about sound.
On the subject of sweetcorn, one of the greatest descriptions of the feeling of a corn on the cob from a child in a TastEd lesson was that it felt like the bumpy stairs under your feet when you go to a swimming pool. @VegPowerUK
Keep free fruit and veg in UK schools! #SFVS At the moment all children aged 4-7 get one free piece of fruit or veg but the scheme is due to be cut. For many children, it is one of the only portions of fresh fruit or veg. Losing this scheme would be a terrible step backwards.
'I prefer loud [foods] because I don't like mushy tastes...That is why my favourite food is an apple'. A child in a #TastEd lesson starts to make the connection between the sound of food and the texture.
