I’m often asked how I make such colorful pieces. This will be a brown eye. I might leave it mostly like this, or skew it more realistic. This is also mostly just first wash, so it’s light, but note the blues, pinks, and yellows.

I was watching my timelapse and thinking about how easy it is for me to block in portraits now. I remember doing the 2014 one. Sitting on the floor in front of my parent’s mirrored closet doors, struggling. It was awful.

2015 vs 2020/21

Naur—look at these from high school 😭 like this was 2013/14…I started art school in 2015…and to be where I am now in 2021? Mind is boggled.

If I reach 10k by the end of this year, I’ll do a commission giveaway. I could do small 5x7 size portraits and ship them. Thoughts?

Ooh! The first wash here is a lot lighter than what I would do now! I usually try to establish intensity and value relationships as soon as possible. I’m a noodler, but also too impatient to carefully glaze, so things look better with less!
