Today on Myth & Moor: Kent Nerburn on creative influence...with an old oak, an old hound, and the art of Arthur Rackham. https://t.co/tyEMXzXuXz
I woke up to the sad news this morning that Dean Morrissey, the American book artist, has died. An old friend from my Boston days, he will be deeply missed by many.
For @TradSongTues's medicines-and-potions theme, "Lord Randall" comes to mind: the ballad of a young man served poisoned eels by his lover or stepmother. Here's Martin Carthy's (stepmother) version: https://t.co/aU6GKBOWHE. The illustration is by Arthur Rackham.
Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit. Happy 1st of March from Myth & Moor.
@stuarthillAuth @AlanLee11225760 Yes indeed, I love his work.
There are many, many illustrators who constantly inspire me, but if I had to chose a favourite it would be a tie between two very different artists: Viennese painter Lisbeth Zwerger and my dear friend & neighbour, master book artist @AlanLee11225760. #BookIllustrationOfTheDay3
Today is also the birthday of @janeyolen, who has done so much as an author, editor & educator to support illustrators over the years. Here are four: David Palladini (The 100th Dove), Dennis Nolan (Dove Isabeau), S. Saelig Gallagher (Among Angels) and John Schoenherr (Owl Moon). https://t.co/QLa4l0jtNE
On Myth & Moor today: following bears through the cold, dark winter, with the help of Terry Tempest Williams and Clarissa Pinkola Estés. Art by Theodore Kittelsen, Edmund Dulac, @JackieMorrisArt, and others. https://t.co/Q1TEsBHvo2
Today's dose of beauty: three seasonal illustrations by British book artist Anne Yvonne Gilbert.
On kiffles, Christmas, and the folklore of winter: https://t.co/NWIw2yMbrd. With art by Arthur Rackham, Charles Robinson, Edmund Dulac and others.
