a few years back I made this species called sugarnix, palm-sized excitable fluffballs with special tails- some of them made sparks and some of them made powder. If the two things came into contact, you could get cool effects like tiny popping explosions or glittery smokescreens

The prompt was “summer announcement spot illustration” I was thinking abt notifications & yelling parrots. Here’s the sketch page and the other versions I had to do to get to the final. also 30+ layers of unused leaves & flower options. Total time was probably 10-15hrs
