A happy 50th birthday to my good friend Yoshiaki Araki, who has done so much to promote the cause of tessellation in so many different ways. He has established the Japan Tessellation Design Association, undertakes Escher-like tessellations, is an author, researcher, and more!

Here’s an interesting finding. It’s well-known that there are three pentagonal tilings which are duals of the Archimedean tilings, named Cairo, Prismatic, and Floret. Cairo and Prismatic are known to tile as a mixture. But what about all three? I can't find it in the literature.

An interesting in situ variation of the Whirling Kites tiling, as studied recently by @panlepan and others, at the Gayer-Anderson Museum in Cairo, Egypt. The age of the tiling is not known.
