Born #onthisday: Honoré Daumier! Known for satirizing contemporary life thru his art, he painted this work in his 60s and his eyesight had greatly deteriorated; it wasn’t until the end of his life that his work received wide recognition. The Barnes is home to 5 works by Daumier.

Happy birthday to Honoré Daumier. He was a prolific artist who worked as a painter and sculptor, but is especially well known for his caricatures satirizing and commenting on 19th century French politics and society.
