Next up is my Black Iris, inspired by the great Georgia O'Keeffe. The black iris is native to southern China and Myanmar and has historically symbolized royalty, wisdom, and valor. Used a velvet-like brush to capture the luxurious mystery the flower represents to me.

Next up is my Durian Plate, which is clearly a play on Judy Chicago’s Dinner Party, particularly the Mary Wollsonecraft plate. I highlighted the contrasting spiky exterior with a softer interior to depict the complex nature of this deeply misunderstood fruit.

The next Asian American still life is "Nostalgic Vanity", inspired by Audrey Flack's "Chanel". I drew Tiger Balm, a pomelo, a jade bracelet, lychee, a pincushion, and lipsticks and perfume into my take on Flack's hyperrealistic artwork. #illustration #digitalartwork

My next Asian American still life piece is titled "Still Life with Nine Koi Fish", inspired by Roy Lichtenstein's "Still Life with Goldfish", that was actually inspired by Henri Matisse's "The Goldfish". Had some cheeky fun with this pop art piece. #illustration #digitalartwork

#100DAYSIANS was a project that helped explore parts of my identity I had long ignored. It's interesting how everything today seems so heavily oriented around identity, but my racial identity was something I never thought much about until this #100dayproject in 2016.
