Of course, we have some more alt color palettes for this suit! A ‘prototype’ Beyond suit, a revisiting of the Williams suit, and then a couple of fun little ‘What Ifs’ for Nightwing and Red Hood.
And so, we end at the end. This is my ideal Batsuit; some of the inspirations are pretty obvious I think, some of them are less-so, but overall I’m really proud of this design. I tried to strike a balance of color and that very striking, dark silhouette.
I think any world with Lex Luthors, Kord Industries, Mister Terrifics, alien invasions, etc., is going to have a substantially whack timeline of technological advancement. Another Earth’s 2003 is, in some ways, real world 2009 or 2010. Which brings me to my next suit…
Keeping in mind that I’m mulching a bunch of different influences into one timeline, this is the ‘everything bad happens at the same time’ part of his history.
And of course… some alt color palettes. Arctic Suit with and without face protector. The third palette is heavily inspired by the David Williams designs for the Darren Aronofsky movie that wasn’t. The fourth one is a spin on Troika.
This is where Batman really becomes ‘Batman’. I think Robin plays an important part in dragging Bruce out of a place of loathing (self and others), and that provokes change. Batman is established at this point, and is building his relationships in Gotham, both allies and enemies.
In effect, I initially just wanted to design my ‘ideal’ Batsuit, taking inspiration from all my favorite suits and adding some traits of my own, but I swiftly realized that for me, that meant looking at its origins and working my way down.
Start at the beginning, and all that.

DREAD LOTUS
A very merry happy for my very good friend @ehlbee! I actually did this for Hanukkah, but I forgot to post it publicly, and it just works out that now it’s the eve of Christmas and it’s kind of like getting the same gift twice? Ah well.
