Redesigning my #Mononykus for The Menagerie, based on some local shorebirds!
I decided to give this Baryonyx a keratinized schnoz, inspired from the cornified facial integument that’s popular in other theropods. I also borrowed some cranial ornamentation from Riparovenator and Ceratosuchops.
Additional notes:
Despite the praises we sing for most of the design choices in Walking With Dinosaurs 3D, their Pachyrhinosaurus gets this wrong. Surprisingly, the Jurassic franchise's ceratopsians get this right. (Though idk if I've ever seen the ear on those.)
Current WIP! Similar pose as last time but making anatomy tweaks & planning to change up the colors + pattern.
Meet the first of the Mini Menagerie, featuring Henry the T. rex, Penelope the Triceratops, and Magnolia the Brachiosaurus. ✨🦕🦖
Get ready for #Dinocember! ☃️🦕
Each week has a different prompt. This is just for fun- I’m looking forward to seeing what you make!
I must congratulate @WryCritic for their publication with @SteveBrusatte in Current Biology. An excellent, well-illustrated review of pterosaur biology. It's sort of the whole package.
