@thehappytoolbox hahaha thanks! I think you may have recognized some models in this piece no? 😉
I suck at modelling characters. I can't make them as clean and as smooth as my hard surfaces, but screw it, I'm having fun making some wonky and very lumpy models. Last years gold was to animate...this years goal is to make characters.
From 2015 to 2019 I seem to have gone from simple, low poly shapes, ramped up the complexity but now the later half of 2019, going back to simple shapes but keeping them subdivided. I gotta say though, I'm really excited to start teaching this stuff. I finally feel I know enough.
@RaphaelRau Cheers man, thanks so much! Very kind of you. The foam was made in Houdini following some basic could tuts on Vimeo. Here's some version I make. Getting the chonkiest foam was the goal here with just enough transparency around the floor.
Refining the VDBs in Houdini for different looks. I think the middle one strikes a nice balance of large and chunky shapes while looking soft enough on the floor tiles that it seems to be melting away. Happy with these tests.
Rigging and Weight Painting attempt No. 3. Ok, not absolutely terrible. Thanks @_gernge for recommending the Detlamush plugin. Has certainly helped. Biggest issue now is I'm losing volume when the palm crunches. The lifelines sort of appear but the fleshy mounds dont. They drop.
